Opportunities
Agriculture is an important sector for diversification of Kazakhstan’s economy, accounting for approximately 5,1% of GDP and employing about 14% of the labor force. The country has vast agricultural lands, making it one of the world's significant grain producers. Wheat is the primary crop and Kazakhstan is known as the "breadbasket of Central Asia". Besides wheat, the country also cultivates barley, rice, corn, various fruits and vegetables and sunflower oil.
Kazakh agricultural businesses within such sectors as animal husbandry, meat production and specialty crop production are increasingly seeking out modern production technologies. Such as advanced veterinary techniques, slaughtering equipment, digital technologies, food safety technologies for meat processing facilities, modern greenhouse operations, plant protection solutions, new plant varieties, drip and pivot irrigation, seeds and fertilizers.
The development strategy of agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2030 sets the task of improving productivity and efficiency, increasing products' exports up to 10 billion US dollars, increase of volume of processing, 2.5-fold increase in labor productivity. The country's government has implemented programs to support farmers, invest in modern agricultural machinery, encourage the adoption of advanced farming practices, foster technology transfer, and enhance the competitiveness of the agricultural sector. Kazakhstan's strategic location as a land bridge between Europe and Asia provides it with valuable opportunities for trading agricultural products.
This situation presents growing opportunities for Dutch agricultural products and technologies.
