Kyrgyzstan plans to ban potato export
In order to prevent blackmarketeering and to ensure food security, Kyrgyz Ministy of Agriculture is considering a temporary restriction on potato export. This decision was initiated after a meeting of high ranking governmental officials, where measures on prices control for socially important products were discussed.

On 1 February 2025 Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resourses, agriculture and processing industry, Bakyt Torobaev held a meeting dedicated to food price setting in the country. During the meeting various tasks have been given to different state bodies including the Ministry of Economy and Commerce and Antimonopoly Service to strengthen control over food pricing. This decision was aimed at prevention of unreasonable price increases and ensuring the approachability of the main products for population.
