Kazakhstan offers loans for livestock and processing at 5%
580 billion tenge was allocated for concessional lending of field work in Kazakhstan in 2024 at a rate of 5% per annum, and in 2025 it is planned to increase financing to 700 billion tenge. The Ministry of Agriculture believes that lending on such terms should be extended to other branches of agribusiness. This was stated by Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov during parliamentary hearings in the Senate on food security.
"Currently, preferential borrowed funds are allocated only for spring field and harvesting work. However, we believe that such instruments with a preferential rate of 5% should be extended to other key areas of the agricultural sector. It is especially important to support the development of animal husbandry, processing of agricultural products, including hides and wool, as well as investment areas of the industry. The implementation of these initiatives will be an important step in strengthening food security and will give an additional impetus to the development of rural areas. We hope for support in promoting our initiatives," Aidarbek Saparov addressed the deputies.
He also said that this year, for the first time, preferential financing of sowing operations began at the end of November. To date, a pool of applications from 695 agricultural producers has been formed for 85 billion tenge.
In addition, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture stressed that in order to strengthen Kazakhstan's position in the world food markets, it is extremely important to focus on the modernisation and expansion of transport infrastructure.
"Special attention should be paid to ensuring timely transport links for the export of agricultural products to international markets. It is also necessary to create conditions for the priority of exports of Kazakh products in air transportation," Aidrarbek Saparov said.
