The Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Erbil is again organizing a Netherlands Pavilion (48 m2) at the Agro-Pack Fair. The 2024 Agro-Pack Fair will take place November 25-28, 2024.

Agro-Pack Erbil

Agro-Pack Erbil is Iraq’s leading agri-food, plastics and packaging fair. Last year, the event attracted 222 exhibitors from 16 countries showcasing their innovative products and solutions to thousands of trade visitors from around Iraq and the entire region.

Participating Dutch companies can exhibit their innovations from greenhouse technology to fertilizers, seeds, storage, and processing machinery to dairy, poultry and agri-business services. We especially welcome a focus on sustainability in agriculture such as through water-efficiency.

Trade figures

Please find few interesting trade figures about Iraq that are mentioned on the Agro-Pack website:

  • Between 2015 and 2022, Iraq’s imports of food and packaging technology increased at an annual growth rate of 15.5%, from €76 million to €209 million, making Iraq the third largest Arab importing country in the Middle East after Saudi Arabia and the UAE (VDMA). These technology imports enable Iraq to develop and diversify its own production, increase exports, and substitute imports of consumables.
  • Food imports also surged between 2017 and 2021, with an annual growth rate of 5.3%, rising from US$ 11.245 billion to US$ 13.827 billion (WTO). This solidifies Iraq's position as the third largest food importer in the Arab Middle East, following Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
