Technology is the Key to Indonesia's 2022 Agricultural Development
Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, said that in 2022 innovation and technology will be the key to agricultural development in Indonesia. That modern technology-based agricultural systems and tools will be one of the determinants of achieving food production targets in the future. "Agriculture is impossible without technology, it is impossible without innovation, agriculture must be able to adapt in order to be able to achieve existing targets, in the future climate change will also be a challenge, and we cannot answer this challenge without technology," he explained while attending the Infrastructure Development Results Evaluation and Agricultural Facilities in Sentul - Bogor.
Syahrul revealed that new ways, such as the use of agricultural mechanization, unmanned tractors, drones, rice planting robots, and other digital technologies based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT), will be the direction of agricultural development policies, and encourage this sector. In order to be able to compete to win the competition in the global arena. "Indonesia's natural wealth is truly extraordinary, starting from water, sun, and fertile soil. I am optimistic that if our agriculture is taken care of properly, we will definitely be able to enter the top 10 best countries in the world, I am sure of that," said Syahrul.
On the same occasion, the Director General of Agricultural Infrastructure and Facilities, Ali Jamil appreciated all parties up to the regional level who were willing to support the implementation of the activities of the Directorate of Agricultural Infrastructure and Facilities. Judging from the budget ceiling of the Directorate General of Infrastructure and Facilities in 2022, aspects of agricultural infrastructure and facilities are still a priority and strategic aspect in future agricultural development. "The proportion of the budget allocated to the Directorate General of Infrastructure and Facilities shows that the program for providing and developing agricultural infrastructure and facilities is still the main priority for national agricultural development going forward," he said.
