Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia : Webinar on “Exploring the digital revolutions that can provide solutions to feed the world sustainably”

A 3rd webinar was held on Wednesday, 15 September 2021 as part of an ongoing series of webinars on the topic of “Sustainable Food System and Circular Agriculture”. The webinar was jointly organized by the agriculture offices of the Netherlands Embassies in Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore.

Webinar 3 - Digital Agriculture

The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (KADIN) supported the webinar with the theme “Exploring the digital revolutions that can provide solutions to feed the world sustainably”. In total  114 participants from Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and the Netherlands attended the webinar. The  webinar served as an introduction to  digital transformations in agriculture and to share ideas and knowledge about the use of digital services.

The Dutch Ministry of Agriculture set the ball rolling  with  Mr. Frans Lips who spoke about “Precision farming in the Netherlands”. Then followed by the Dutch NGO represented by Mr. Rojan Bolling of the Netherlands Food Partnership (NFP) which interestingly explained about “Introduction to digitalization in agriculture and the Digital Agrifood Collective”. We had the honor of Mrs. Datuk Yatimah, from the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) in the Prime Ministers Department Malaysia who was the 3rd speaker in this webinar.She explained about “Digitalizing Agriculture in Malaysia” from a government point of view, the policy and the challenge they are facing. The final speaker, Mr. Eric van Valkengoed, completed this webinar with his presentation on "Out-of-the-box Satellite Crop Insurance". His  company, TerraSphere is collaborating with one of the start-up companies in Indonesia to develop an application for handling rice damage claims by smallholders,

The webinar lasted 1 and a half hours and was moderated by the Agriculture Counselor for Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia, Mr. Joost van Uum. This also marks his arrival to the South East Asian offices with the aim of  sharing our strategic work plans for the next four years in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
