Orange Cocoa Day (OCD) 2022
Cocoa is a commodity of global interest. It’s produced mostly in Western Africa and South America and consumed in Europe, America and Asia mostly with emerging markets also in Africa. In the global trade of cocoa, The Netherlands(NL) is a big cocoa player (processor and exporter) but also importer from Ghana. This position makes the sustainability of the cocoa value chain a shared responsibility. The cocoa value chain also presents a huge trade and investment opportunity for Ghana and the Netherlands. Addressing sector challenges will create further opportunities for Ghana and Dutch businesses to partner on increased and sustainable production, processing and value addition.
The Netherlands Embassy in Ghana having concluded almost a decade’s intervention in the cocoa sector, has gathered a lot of experience and knowledge and now putting together its global strategy and an in-country multi-annual strategy in Ghana. this strategy is aimed at maintaining and strengthening its strategic role within the sector at large and within the like-minded cocoa DPs community.
