Egypt removes Halal certification for dairy imports

This announcement marks the end of a period of ambiguity that has affected the Dutch dairy export industry for the past four years. The implementation of Halal certification for dairy products had been repeatedly postponed, creating significant uncertainty for Dutch companies seeking to export to the Egyptian market. This continuous deferral made long-term planning difficult and hindered investment in adapting processes for certification.

The decision to exempt dairy products from Halal certification is being widely lauded as a positive step towards creating a more transparent and predictable business environment in Egypt. The removal of this barrier simplifies the export process and allows Dutch dairy companies to focus on meeting quality standards and consumer demand, rather than navigating complex and shifting certification requirements.

Opening Doors for Dutch Dairy Exports

Egypt represents a significant market for Dutch dairy products. This latest development paves the way for Dutch companies to continue, and potentially increase, their exports to Egypt with confidence. The removal of mandatory Halal certification will reduce costs and administrative burdens, allowing them to compete more effectively with other international suppliers.
