Report on the Dutch Food Open Day in Shanghai
Last week, the Consulate General collaborated with the Dutch Embassy in Beijing to organize the Dutch Food Open Day in Shanghai. In total, 15 Dutch companies participated in the event, of which 13 showcased their delicious F&B. With over 100 guests, it was one of the biggest events organized by our colleagues this year.
On November 12th, a part of the cosmopolitan Chinese city Shanghai colored orange. The Dutch Food Open Day featured speakers including our Agricultural Counsellor Wouter Verhey, Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Food Association Mr. Gao Kemin, and representatives from FoodVentures and the VanDrie.
The purpose of the event was to bring Dutch F&B products to the attention of mainly local traders while also positioning the products and the Netherlands as an expert in the field of food safety and health.
The tasting event included small bites of VanDrie Veal, Oranjeboom beer, Cheese, Milk, Bread, Smoked salmon, French fries, Milkshake, and more. Also, Holex Flower provided fresh tulips to give the venue an even more "Dutch feeling."
"The Netherlands has always led the world in the field of agro-food. Today we bring together world-class sustainable, green, and safe food. Circular agriculture has become a hot topic in today's society; the challenge we face is how to optimize productivity and produce healthy and safe food with limited resources. Among them, the sustainable utilization of resources is crucial in food production." said Wouter Verhey in his opening speech.
