The Sino-Dutch Circular Agriculture Hi-tech Center Ready for Construction
On July 27, Jiashan Economic Development Zone and HX Agriculture signed the Sino-Dutch Circular Agriculture Hi-tech Center Agreement, giving way to the construction of nearly 6 hectares of greenhouses in Jiashan County, Zhejiang province.
In 2018, Jiashan and the Dutch Greenhouse Delta (DGD) signed a cooperation agreement to set up Sino Dutch agro park. Last year Jiashan and DGD finally found an investor for their plans, HX Agriculture. The first project is the construction of 5.5 hectares of greenhouses.
With the fast-growing horticulture sector in China, the protected horticulture will continue to grow exponentially. But in many cases, companies lack technical knowledge and advanced technology on how to manage modern greenhouses, leading to major capital waste.
In addition to Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Shanghai, Remco van Wijngaarden, and Agricultural Advisor Nick Hong, representatives from Dutch companies Ridder Group, Dutch Greenhouse Delta, Priva, and Codema were present at the signing ceremony.
According to Statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, China has 1 million hectares of multi-span plastic tunnels, accounting for 27% of China's total protected horticulture, 9 000 hectares of glass greenhouses, making it the country with the second largest glasshouses worldwide after the Netherlands in 2018.
