Join the webinar on collective action for water and biodiversity
Water scarcity and biodiversity loss pose significant threats to global agricultural supply chains. In Chile’s Aconcagua Catchment, increasing water stress and climate change are endangering the future of fruit production. Tackling these challenges requires a collective action approach, bringing together farmers, buyers, governments, and international stakeholders to implement scalable solutions. This approach serves as a case-study in a webinar that will take place on April 22, 2025 from 15:00 to 16:00 (CET).

The webinar will explore how collective action can drive sustainable production practices worldwide. It is hosted by NewForesight in collaboration with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), Partners for Water, the Dutch Embassy in Chile, the Aconcagua Network, and Greenticket.
The collective action approach is essential for transitioning toward water- and biodiversity-resilient sustainable production worldwide. The Aconcagua region, serves as the first case study, with the approach designed for future scaling to other crops and regions globally. This initiative, set up together with the LAN-team of the Netherlands Agricultural Network, fosters collaboration within the value chain, aiming to support mitigation measures at the farm level.
For whom?
This webinar is intended for stakeholders across the international value chain of diverse crops worldwide, including farmers, retailers and buyers, operating in regions facing climate and water challenges. We also welcome participation from government entities, NGOs and knowledge institutions working on similar issues and exploring the role of agri-food value chains in addressing and acting collective on local water balance challenges.
Key topics covered:
- The need for collective action: Understanding why collaboration is essential for building resilience in water and biodiversity management.
- Roles and responsibilities: Identifying key stakeholders and their contributions to sustainable solutions.
- Scaling up solutions: Examining how collective action can be expanded to different regions.
- Strategic framework: A three-level approach addressing farm practices, buyer involvement, and policy support.
- Case study – Aconcagua: Lessons learned from ongoing efforts in Chile’s Aconcagua Catchment.
This webinar provides an opportunity for agricultural stakeholders to gain valuable insights into sustainable water and biodiversity management.
