ReThink with Max Russell - Circular City: How do We Design Green Resilient Cities?
Nearly 80% of GHG emissions and about 60-70% of waste comes from cities. Their size, importance, and impact on ecosystem will only grow in the future. However, it seems ideas of resilient, human-centered, green & sustainable cities are not high enough on our agenda. What we also lack is the systemic and holistic approach to making our cities better. In circular economy everything is interconnected, therefore a concept of circular city suggests we should look at all flows of materials and substances and manage them efficiently so that we eliminate negative environmental impact, maintain maximum possible value, lower pressure on fossils and create more comfort for citizens. But how do we do that? Discussing this with Max Russell, project manager for Cities Program at Circle Economy – the World’s leading organization that helps cities & regions to come to a holistic and practical implementation of circular economy.
